Brittany : visit the peninsula of Crozon

What to do on the peninsula of Crozon ?

During a weekend, we had the chance to discover the Crozon Peninsula with Finistère 360 in Brittany. For the event Rade en Fête, we visited this little piece of paradise, located near Brest. In Crozon peninsula, you will find a preserved nature, beautiful beaches and lots of activities!

Visit the Crozon Peninsula

Bordered by the roadstead of Brest, the Crozon Peninsula is less than an hour away from the big Breton city. For information, a bay is a large bay connected to the sea. The one of Brest is one of the largest in the world with its 180 km2. One of the particularities of these basins is that the water is calm enough to navigate peacefully and do nautical activities.

Rade en Fête: the event of the summer

For 10 days, every year, the ports of the Brest harbor are celebrating with various activities. You can discover sailing, scuba diving, sea rescue or even take a ride on old boats. All the ports participating in the event will also offer small markets, tastings and exhibitions in a good mood and with music. The evenings are also animated with beautiful fireworks. Rade en Fête is the perfect opportunity to visit the Crozon Peninsula and discover the Breton traditions!

This well-preserved little paradise is part of the Regional Natural Park of Armorique. We had the chance to take a sailboat tour in Le Fret, a small coastal village of the peninsula. The sailboat Loch Monna was beautifully restored. Her owner invested 120 000€ and 7 months of work to restore her. We were able to learn the maneuvers to sail, it was a great first for us! You can also take a trip on a sailboat and learn the basics of navigation on this boat. The trip costs 35€ for a half day.

Where to eat on the Crozon peninsula ?

You dream of fresh fish ? Go to the restaurant Les Viviers de Térénez. We had never seen a fish tank before. The fish and seafood are stored in huge transparent tanks that we can contemplate. The products served are really fresh and the setting is beautiful! Moreover, the prices are reasonable for a spot like this.

Kayak on the roadstead of Brest

To go kayaking in the Crozon Peninsula, you can go to La Paillote, near Logonna-Daoulas. Within the framework of Rade en Fête, we were able to accompany hundreds of people who made the connection between Daoulas and Logonna-Daoulas. The goal was to discover this bay and its biodiversity in a playful and sporty way. The atmosphere was really nice, the welcome of the participants at La Paillote was done in music.

La Paillote also rents paddles!

Nature walk

We ended this beautiful day with a very natural walk near Landevennec. The guide explained us the evolution of the bay with time. If you also want to learn more about the fauna and flora of the Crozon Peninsula, you can call Thibaud Leloup of the Dizolo association at 06 60 23 27 62.

Discover the Virgin Island

The Virgin Island is the little jewel of the Crozon peninsula. This beach is really beautiful, you have also been many to react on Instagram! It should be known that this place must be preserved. It is therefore very important to respect this environment. Do not stray from the paths and keep your trash with you. The creek is made of pebbles, the water is quite cool but its color and the panorama are exceptional. As usual, we advise you to go early to avoid the crowd.

How to get to the beach of Ile Vierge

To park, you have to park on a small dirt road called Porzh an Dour. The road is in bad condition so drive slowly. You will then have to walk almost 1 km to get there. The path is rocky and a bit sloping, so wear good shoes. Be careful, on this beach there is no shade and the Breton sun is not pleasant!

By the sea : you can also reach the beach by kayak/canoe. Ask for information from the rental companies.

Visit Morgat on the Crozon Peninsula

Morgat (pronounced Morgate) is an old fishing village. It is pleasant to stroll there to eat an ice cream or a pancake: there we convinced you, admit it!  We liked its colored facades, its vast beach and the few tourists we met.

Visit Brest

During this weekend, we also visited the city of Brest. It is necessary to know that Brest was the target of more than 200 bombardments during the second world war. It was then rebuilt from 1944 to 1958. Brest is therefore a city full of art and history! If you are passing through, you can stroll in the city’s parks, at the national museum of the Navy or even on rue de Siam with all its shops. Moreover, the city is moving towards a modernization with trendy spaces like the Eric Taberly quay, where you will find many restaurants with terraces overlooking the port. We tested the restaurant La Base: a magnificent decoration, good skewers and a very pleasant atmosphere.

We tested the Mercure Brest Centre Les Voyageurs hotel and we can only recommend it! It’s been a long time since we’ve been in a Mercure. We were therefore very surprised by the quality of our accommodation. Brand new rooms, perfect insulation, spacious, clean, design and exceptional breakfast with local products.

For us – you know our great love of nature – the main interest of Brest is its surroundings with the magnificent landscapes of the Crozon Peninsula.
